Hi guys, this morning I woke up to see that Renny nominated me for the Liebster Award, that is so awesome!!!

The Liebster Award is an award where new blogger with less than 200 followers get nominated. This actually is a fun way which in the other hand helps the new bloggers to get to know more amazing bloggers out there.

So let's begin answering questions!

 1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand?
This is a hard one. I'm stuck between L'Oreal and Rimmel London...hmmm okay, L'Oreal since they make my favorite foundation and mascara.
 2. What is your favorite high-end makeup brand?
Hands down, my favorite high end brand is NARS.
3. What is your favorite lip products?
my EOS Sweet Mint lip balm
4.  What is the most you spent on a makeup?
I guess around $60-$70 on a foundation.
5.  Where would you go if you were given the chances to go for a vacation.
Puerto Rico!!
6. Your life ambition/goals?
Since I was 11 or 12, I've always wanted to become a cosmetologist and one day have my own salon/spa. Becoming a "Beauty Guru" has always been another one of my ambitions since then as well.
7. What is your favorite quote you live by?
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
8. Why and when did you join Blogger?
I joined blogger the first week of September 2013. Beauty has always been my passion and have always enjoyed reading beauty blogs. I always said that I wanted to blog and make YouTube videos, but was always so shy. I decided to stop being scared and to finally do it.
9. What is your favorite thing about being a blogger?
I love the positive feedback I've been receiving so far - it's such a great feeling to know that people actually enjoy reading what you put out there on your blog. I also love how supportive many bloggers are; it's like a big family.
10. Who is your favorite blogger?
My favorite blogger at the moment has to be Becca; I absolutely love her.

Here are the questions for my nominees to answer
1. Who or what inspired you to begin blogging?

1. Mystyle

Since I am new to the beauty blogging world, I decided to do the Get to Know Me Tag that I got from Sincerely Renny, you guys should go check her blog out too :) xo

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Sadly, it is very straight - it was once VERY curly...that didn't last long.

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I go to the salon; my hairdresser has the perfect violet red dye and I haven't found anything that would compare, so I will continue getting it done at a salon.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday or do you change it?
I don't know how to answer this question. I feel as if my style is quite always the same, but in the winter, my "edgier" side comes out more since I love wearing leather and BOOTS - in the summer, I'm a bit girlish. I like to wear floral print and sandals.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I do my own manicures and pedis.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
Every few days

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just in the summer?
Both

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
I would say an hour/hour and a half the most.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Filling in my eye brows are always the first thing I do, so eyes.
I

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it.
I'm a collector. Sometimes I feel as if I just buy what I need until my sister points out that I have ton of makeup. I love trying new products, I can't help it!

10. How often you wear false eyelashes?
At one point, I was wearing false lashes just about every day because I did my eye makeup often. I wear them very rare now. It was too hot this summer that I didn't ever bother too much makeup, especially false lashes.

11. Do you do full face of makeup everyday?
Not at all. Most of the time, I wear BB Cream and a bit of concealer and only wear foundation if I'm going out.

12. Do you wear makeup when you’re home alone or with family?
No way! Lol When I'm home and know I'm not doing anything that day, I don't bother getting ready at all.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
I do, if I'm going to the grocery store or anything like that.

14. How many high-end products do you have?
I would say quite a bit.

15. Do you plan OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
If it's something new that I bought recently and haven't worn, 99.9% chance that the outfit was planned when I was buying it (LOL), but usually I just wait til the last minute and throw anything together.

16. How often do you change your handbags?
Never :/ I always use my black leather cross body; it's a bag that goes with everything and easier to carry around.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
I'm usually awake by 7-8 am and go to sleep fairly late - I'd say around 2 or 3 am because I just have a hard time going to sleep early and then regret it when I wake up.

18. How often or when do you workout?
Can we skip this question? (hahahah!) I haven't been able to workout much because I am busy from as soon as I wake up til late at night. I try to take walks every day to make up for the lack of exercise.

19. Left handed or right handed?
Leftie!

20. How tall are you?
I would say I'm about 5'5 to 5'6, not too sure.

21. Do you speak any foreign language?
I speak Spanish...moderately.

22. How many pets do you have?
I have two dogs; Louie, an 11 year old Chihuahua/Corgi mix and Sieben (Seven in German), a 4 year old Great Dane.

23. How often are you on blogger?
Well I've only had my account for a few weeks but I go on it quite a lot...like whenever I have the chance to get on my computer during the day.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Yes, I love reading comments on reviews because you get to read many different opinions - like a beauty group chat. I love commenting as well.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I keep a mental list

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
The other day I was just sitting around thinking what would be a good name since I was just using my name. I wanted it to be something about my addiction to beauty but didn't want 'Beauty Addict' and since 'junkie' is another term for an addict, I came up with Beauty Junkie. It's simple, but this was the first name I didn't feel unsure about - I liked it immediately.

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
Nikon Coolpix L110

28. How often do you clean your house?
My overall house, everyday. My room....once a week. Lol

29. What’s your favorite color?
Red; the color of lust.

30. Do you swear?
Yes, I'm human and it happens.

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
It's 11:30 pm so nothing, I will be going to bed soon

“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” -Thich Nhat Hanh

Since the age of 13, I have been extremely self-conscious. That was the age that I had moved to Arizona and it was basically a huge culture shock for me. It was all different to me - not only the place, but the people. I was born and raised in the Bronx, so I was always used to seeing girls with similar bodies to mine - big boobs, huge hips and big butts. I thought my body was normal and never had a problem with it. Then moving to Arizona, I began to see a lot more skinny girls. It made me feel so insecure and that was when I began I consider myself as "the fat girl". I got into a deep depression because I didn't feel like I fit in and I just hated living here. Because I was so depressed, I started to 'eat my feelings' and more and more, I gained weight.

When I became a freshman in high school, things got worse for me. This is around the time I began using Tumblr and those anonymous question asking sites. Every time I logged on to those websites, I had people leaving me nasty comments about how fat I was. It got to the point where I was so disgusted with myself that I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror anymore. When I did, I'd point out every single one of my flaws and just bawl my eyes out. High school was definitely the worst years of my life. It's when guys begin taking interests in girls...except for me. I felt like no guy would ever like me because I was fat. I was always that friend in the group that never had a boyfriend because they simply wouldn't look my way. I never let anyone know of what I was feeling simply because it's easier to not say anything.

It does get better...

After spending all that time scrutinizing myself in the mirror, trying to find ways to look better or skinnier, I slowly began to realize that I would never be truly happy if I didn't stop this nonsense. How did I expect to be loved by someone when I couldn't even love myself? I knew it was time for me to learn how to become comfortable in my own skin.

In our extremely visual culture I think we all struggle with the idea of what beauty really is. Girls strive to be who they see on TV, in movies and in magazines when in reality, it's just society's perception of beauty. No one should have to feel as if they need to look like a model or actresses/actors to be beautiful. Looks should not and do not define who you are as a person.

I learned to just love who I am I as a person. We are all beautiful if we simply love ourselves. It's about being confident and not caring what others think of you; we are the key to our own acceptance. There's only one of us in this world so why should we waste energy trying to feel accepted and loved by others? When you start down that road to self acceptance - that road to truly loving who you are, flaws and all, it’s then that you can truly open yourself up to being beautiful, for you and no one else.

We've all been bullied once in our life have felt bullied because of the way we look. Whether it'd been social alienation, cyber bullied, verbally bullied, etc. but it's about not letting any of those words get to you. If they don't know you personally, don't take it personal. It does hurt, but just remember that their goal is to hurt you. Show them you don't give a flying f***k what they say! I used to think that maybe if I lost weight, guys would be a bit interested in me and I'd probably even have more friends. Now that I look back, I want to slap myself and say, "DON'T CHANGE FOR ANYONE!!!!" If you're going to make any changes, make them for you and only you. If you feel the need to diet to make YOU feel better about yourself, but make sure it's to make yourself happier and for your health.

These past two months, I've done nothing but learn how to love myself for who I am and it has boosted my self-esteem so much and it shows. When I look in the mirror now, I don't hate what I see. I love the strong young woman I've become. People begin noticing your confidence too. They will be able to see it in the way you carry yourself and in your body language. Nothing is more beautiful than becoming a stronger, more confident you.

I've heard nothing but great things about Coastal Scents for years and have purchased the 252 eye shadow palette  in the past and love it so much. A few weeks ago, I decided to spoil myself with something since my birthday is in a week and if you know me, when I treat myself, I mean I'm going to buy myself makeup. I decided to go on to the Coastal Scents website because I wanted to get myself another palette. And there it was, the Favorites Combo right on the home screen. This combo includes the 22 Piece Brush Set, 88 Original Eye Shadow palette, 10 Blush palette and the 10 Camouflage palette - all of this for $39.95. My eyes lit up because I mean, how can you pass on that deal? Might I say that if you were to purchase these products on original price, it would come out to be 80-90 dollars so this was a big deal for me.

If you want to know what brushes are in this set, click here.

I'm not going to lie, at first I was a bit iffy on purchasing this brush set. I never heard as much about the brushes as I have on the eye shadow palettes and such. I am so happy I did get them. They are so soft and easy to work with. I was in shock at how inexpensive they are yet such great quality. I tried out a few eye shadow brushes and was satisfied at how well my eye shadow blended out. I usually have to sit there, blending and blending for a few minutes, but these made it a whole lot easier. A few days later, I tried some face brushes and once again, I was in complete shock.

My favorites out of the whole set definitely have to be:

  1. Flat Buffer- I've been using it to apply my foundation and let me tell you, my foundation has never looked so beautiful before. It made my face look airbrushed and blends in the foundation well.
  2. Angle Blush- Since it is made of goat hair, the brush does not pick up that much product which I think is perfect for contouring (I use it for that). Many brushes I've used in the past to contour picked up too much product so I didn't have much control on how much I wanted - with this brush, I do.

*Note: My palettes look a bit beat up due to the fact that I took them to my friend's house to get ready and they got scratched up in my bag. Sorry!

The 88 Original Palette is such a great beginners palette (also on sale for $10.95 right now!!!!!). It comes with a lot of different colors so you can experiment with many different looks and they are VERY pigmented!

I am absolutely in love with the Camouflage Palette! (On sale for $11.95!) I used this on Saturday on four different girls and found a perfect match for each and every one of them. I did notice that they crease a bit but if you powder over it, you'll be fine! I thought they would be a creamier texture, but I personally love that they weren't. This is great for under eyes.

The 10 Blush Palette is a must have! (On sale for 12.95!) The colors are all absolutely beautiful and very pigmented so a little goes a long way. I knew I was going to love from the start since I have seen many Youtubers raving about it.

Overall, these palettes are perfect and are very handy. If you're learning how to do makeup or do many other peoples' makeup, I definitely you recommend you check these palettes out! Coastal Scents is such an affordable makeup brand and everything I've purchased from them so far is great quality. I will definitely be buying a lot more goodies from their website soon. I hope I helped you gals out a bit!

xoxo

Coastal Scents Favorite Combo!?

Cleaning your makeup brushes is probably and should be every girl's number one makeup routine. Think about all the makeup, dirt, and oils that are trapped in those uncleaned brushes, especially to the girls who throw their brushes in their dirty makeup bags and leave them in there for months (gross!). This all leads up to break outs and even eye infections.

You should be cleaning your brushes frequently - I like to clean mine at least once a week. So if you are practicing this routine religiously, you do know how expensive those brush shampoos can get and not to mention, some of them don't entirely work either! I found that this method using items everyone already probably has in their homes has been the most effective and most affordable.

You will need:
  • Dish soap (this is what disinfects and cleans your brush)
  • Extra virgin olive oil or extra light like I use (the dish soap will dry out the bristles - the olive oil will act as your conditioner)
  • Plate (I use tupperware)

  1. Evenly distribute your dish soap and olive oil onto your plate.
  2. Take your first dirty brush and in circular motions, stir it up in the mixture.
  3. Continue to move the brush in circular motions but this time on the palm of your hand. You will begin to see all the makeup come off. Then place it on top of a paper towel.
  4. (I do 3-5 brushes before I do this step) Under warm water in your sink, continue the same circular motions or swirls you did on the palm of your hand. Once the water is clear, that means the brush is clean.
  5. Gently wipe them dry on the paper towel to remove excess water
  6. Place them on a flat surface to dry (some people like the to dry them with the hairs facing downward, I personally don't.)

If you have brush gaurds, place them on. These will protect from dust and dirt and will reshape the bristles.

For so long, I came across pictures of manicures like the one in the picture below and thought, "How in the world do they make their lines so straight?" I searched the internet to see how it was done and finally, I came across the 'nail striping tape method'. I've been incorporating this method in many of my nail designs for the past few weeks and I wanted to share with you guys the tricks I picked up during the process.

For this "tutorial", you will need at least two different colored nail polishes (glittered nail polish also looks amazing). I used L.A. Colors Color Craze nail polish (The color strangely did not come with a name but it is the purple color) and Revlon's Top Speed Nail Enamel in Stormy which is a muted grey color and in my opinion, a great color for the winter and fall. To achieve the manicure, you will need striping tape. You can find all over the internet. Born Pretty Store by far has the cheapest I have seen so far. If you do not have striping tape, that is okay! I found that if you cut small strips of regular tape, you can achieve this look, which is what I did for this tutorial.

You're gonna start by painting your nails with the first color you have chosen. It's okay if you end up painting your skin, you can clean that up later. I HIGHLY recommend you use a base coat before painting your nails with any color. It will protect your nails from staining and extend the life of your manicure. Sally Hansen's Salon Manicure Smooth & Strength Base Coat is my holy grail base coat.

Once your nails are completely dry, place the strips of tape you cut up in your choice of pattern on your nails. Try your best to smooth it down right to the edges because the nail polish will seep through. Make sure the tape carries on past your nail for it will make it a lot easier to remove the tape later. It is very important your remember the order you have applied them in!! Trust me, the first time I tried this, I did not keep track and when I went to remove the tape, I just began picking at random strips and completely messed up my manicure.

It is now time to apply the second color over the tape and should look something like this. While the polish is still wet, begin removing the tape in reverse order, meaning the last strip of tape you placed on your nail, will be the first strip you remove. I find that it is easier to remove the tape with tweezers and your fingers won't get covered in nail polish either.

Once your nails are dry, apply a coat of top coat. I use Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

Your manicure will now look something like this. (The top coat kinda made my color bleed a little bit. If anyone knows of a top coat that won't make colors bleed, I would love you forever if you can let me know in the comments!) Once your nails are completely dry, dip either a small nail brush or cotton swab into acetone and clean up if you did get polish on your skin.

There are many different designs you can come up with this method, so have fun creating! Hope you guys found this helpful xoxo
